DAS BOOT - DAS BRADTWURST

The other day i went with my friend Robin to DAS BOOT in Dusseldorf!

I wasnt planning to buy anything as i can say, my quiver is quite complete as it is :-) but its always nice to see and talk to several people from the windsurfindustry  and get to see all the new 2013 equipment.

Robin bought a used JP SUP , an All in One sup.

will it fit in the car?? nope... luckily he had some handiracks in the back.

The Sup should be good enough for laid back supping, waveriding and it has a mastbase insert, in the middle below also powerbox insert which makes it perfect for kiddywindsurfing.
specfs 9'9 x 32inch. a Happy man Robin is :D Now he can sell his enourmous 13ft Gong Sup which is like 20kilos or more.

The best thing of this event was ofcourse the bradtwurst!

okay, i got home with just one goodie.. A Mystic sharkskin neoprene jacket.. so i dont freeze off my bollocks these wintermonths at the parkinglot ;-)

Edwin meets Worldchampion Philip Koster @ MAUI ULTRA FINS

The other day in Dusseldorf  i met Worldchampion  Philip Koster.
A very relaxed dude, we talked about stormchase sessions and doing frontloops.. Philip was  11yrs old doing his frontloops and allready making double forwardloops when  he was 12years old! Insane!
in stormchase conditions/ force 10 going for a backie or tabletop.. no problem.. but going forward? No, doesnt feel right so far. Philip now told me what to do out there lol so coming season no excuses..  i just have to go for it eh... :-) basicly he mentioned, dont think to much and just go for it.  As im a daddy of 2 kiddies, fulltime job, being old ugh. ill probably put on a helmet and crashvest trying them frontloops;)

Maui ULTRA Fins is definately an Innovative brand!
What you think about this one for example.. the MAUI ULTRA FIN STRAKE 22cm
A slalom/speed fin, which should go really fast downwind, and makes life easier going upwind!
Some pro's are testing the fin allready in hawaii. Its not in the market yet, but if the tests really book good results it maybe will!

Time will tell. For now im stil stoked using my Xtri's Xtwins and Xquad fins underneeth my Quatro waveboards. They're compared to the standard fins.  MORE FAST, MORE LOOSE, AND TURN LIKE  MAD !
TRy them once, and you'll be convinced!

Enough promo talk for now,  hopefully spring will be coming soon! I cant wait to be ripping out there. It feels like its been months ago allready, but Its frrreezing bigtimes.

Starboard BLACK BOX 2014!!!

What a Beauty !
the Starboard BLACKBOX waveboard - 87 Liter,

ive read about it earlier and finally could see it with my own eyes at DAS BOOT Dusseldorf.
It should be a superb board in light conditions.  To bad there is just 'One size only'! the 87liter version.
I heard you can order the blackbox  in april and its delivered from May 2013... but you ll be ripping a 2014 model! ;)

The people from starboard told me there will be no bigger or smaller versions of the black box.
To bad for the heavier sailors who wants a lightwindboard with a little bit of extra float/volume... :-(

this concept should be awesome in lightwinds.. only not for the heavier sailors i think. or
For me example.. Id like to float a litte with minimal winds.. meaning 100liter is needed.

but nonetheless the black box looks amazing.

The square tail is wide... Really wide! 30cm ;) the backstraps is placed  far  backwards close to the tail

funny detail, look at the masttrack, its not placed straight inside the board!
As the board is one size only, it looks like the baseplate can only be placed aswell on one place only, exactly in the middle and nowhere else.

The specfs are innovative and pushing its limits   215 x 62cm wide !  I LIKE !

the nose of the board, reminds my of my S.O.S. Rocketfish boards which i had for many years., a full/wide pointy nose.

deep concaves, with a trailer fin concept!  2 wider fins on each side and a little bit (2cm) smaller/thruster/trailer  fin in the middle.. slotboxes on the side and  US in the middle.

I would love to try out a lightwind wave board shaped for heavier guys, with the same concept.

Maybe i should go for a custom one of  these days :-)
